Some close-up shots after a hike to the top of Spencer’s Butte in Eugene, Oregon, the other day. Only posting a few of these because I ended up with a lot of noise in the background of some of the images…not sure what that’s about; ISO wasn’t higher than 800 on any of my shots, but maybe I should’ve been shooting with it around 200 (?)…This is something I’ll have to play around with a bit. The tight shots are pretty fun; might be time to pick up a macro lens. Any suggestions for a macro Canon?

This was the sharpest of the dragonfly shots I took. Wish I had an angle on it where the stick wasn't blocking his wings, but other than that, I'm pretty happy with it. (1/1600, f5.6, ISO 800)

Wanted to crop this a lot tighter, but I ended up with a really noisy background on this one...not sure why I'm getting so much grain here. Anybody know? (1/4000, f5.6, 800)

Same dragonfly, and stick, as image No. 1... (1/2500, f5.6, 800)

Flowers near the top of Spencer's Butte. (1/1600, f5.6, 800)

Another one I would've cropped tighter but for the background noise/grain. More stick interference, too... (1/1600, f5.6, 800)
